Maggie Beth and James Taylor

I know, I know ANOTHER nickname! I just can't help it! It just happens! Peter teases that I find so many nicknames the original name given is often lost in the shuffle. Oh well, shmoopie, you'll just have to deal! Tonight as I was rocking Maggie to sleep I busted out a little James Taylor, "you've got a friend" for her. When I finished singing the last verse (that I could remember) and started humming she turned her head toward my face peeked open one eye and grinned as if to say, "thank you mommy for stopping that awful noise". Perhaps tomorrow I'll try my rendition of Billy Joel!

holding hands

Grant has never been a big fan of holding hands. He's much too squirmy to be bothered by this constraint. Lately I've been telling him that we must hold hands when we cross the street or when we're in parking lots because otherwise we're not being safe. His new response is, "Mommy, I'll hold my own hand" and he folds his hands together and walks right beside me. Then I grab the shoulder of his shirt and off we go. Someday I'll have to get a photo of this as I'm sure it's entertaining to watch!

Seattle Trip!

While Grandma and Papa King were in town we decided to go over to Seattle for a couple of days! We had so much fun! We visited the aquarium, Pike Place Market, Ballard locks, Alki Beach and even Levenworth! All in just two days! Grant got to see his buddy Nickolas and we had so much fun staying in a hotel! What an adventure! Here are a few pictures!

Happy Birthday Granty!

Grant turned 3 on September 11! He was so excited to celebrate his birthday at school with his new friends, at home with Mommy and Daddy (and Grandma and Papa) and also with his playgroup friends at the park. When Papa asked, "well how many parties are you going to have?" Grant logically answered, "3 because I'm 3". That's pretty good logic! Papa wondered if he gets to have 65 parties to celebrate his birthday. Granty just laughed and said, "yeah"Here's a few pics.

Just breathe

I was able to spend some time alone this afternoon with Maggie. She took quite a long nap and awoke before Grant so after a good long nurse we were able to hang out just she and I. As I was holding her against my chest I could hear and feel her breath in my ear. She was wandering in and out of sleep as that big meal really filled her up. When her eyes finally fixed on being awake her eyes met mine and she instantly smiled. My heart just melted. With all the hussle and bussle of having two children I sometimes forget to stop and just breathe and appreciate the miracles that we've been blessed with. Maggie is truly amazing and I cannot wait to see what she will become!

You came back!

Grant went to his first day of Preschool today! After many hours of worrying and nervousness (on my part) the little guy had a fabulous time! There was not a single tear shed by either of us and when I picked him up after class he ran to my arms calling out, "mommy you came back to get me"! here are a few pictures we took this morning!

Weekend in Ione

This weekend Peter's Mom, Kaila, was in town for our nephew, Jack's, birthday! We celebrated Grant and Kaila's birthdays as well. We were in Ione on the river as you can see in some of these pictures! My dear friend Amalia shared with me her famous choclate cake which I attempted for Kaila's birthday. You can see the finished product in the pictures! Grant had so much fun with his cousins! We took a train ride from Mettaline Falls to Ione! Grant was just thrilled to be riding a real train! He starts school tomorrow so I"m sure I'll have lots to write about then!
